DESIGN
STUDIO 1
The module aims to present introduction to architectural design explain design through the expression of the perception of ‘self’ and the body, construction, and materiality in terms of tectonics.
Module was conducted over a period of 14 weeks and was delivered in the form of lectures, tutorials and self-directed study.

PROJECT 1: Geometry and Form: Architectural Design Elements and Principles
The project focuses on providing basic understanding of the design principles, processes and approaches in generating ideas, developing design and translating it into form in a group of 6 students, focusing on two design principles and elements each. As an outcome students presented two tattoo stamps and two models representing their elements and principles respectively.
PROJECT 2:
A 1: 1 scale isolation structure for ourselves were asked to build, working with several materials and understand the nature and characteristics of the materials and how they are to be used in design to express their personal experience during this pandemic period, also exploring construction details, and structural quality, amalgamating design intention learned from project 1 and structure into the 1:1 scale isolation structure with anthropometry and ergonomics.
Structure and Body: Material, Anthropometric and Ergonomic Exploration-Isolation Structure
PROJECT 3: Geometry and Form: Architectural Design Elements and Principle
In this project, looking back at our tectonic structure from project 2 and further develop it to a sensory space to anticipate and accommodate users’ needs and emotions, identifying a dominant theme from the understanding of design elements and principles from Project 1 and 2 and enhance the structure to create a poetic architectural representation and our own reinterpretation of their Tectonic through a series of spaces.
Their sensitivity to the articulation and mastery of spatial experience should ignite a sensorial experience for ourself to express the personal emotions of living through a pandemic.
